More info

Mandelic Acid

It is an alpha-hydroxy acid made from bitter almonds. It is mainly used for peeling, and does not cause stinging or reddening. Other pluses are immediate results in terms of radiance and cleanliness of the complexion. Skin exfoliation is gradual, easily concealed by hydration with a cream.
This is why it is called “peeling for any season”, used to treat the most common unsightly skin problems, such as photo-ageing, irregular pigmentation, acne and fine lines.
Mandelic acid has depigmenting and antibiotic properties, making it the go-to product for treating non-cystic inflammatory acne and it is even used as a post-op treatment following laser resurfacing, to prevent infection.
Thanks to its special chemical/physical characteristics, treatments with mandelic acid are called “summer peeling” because, unlike other AHAs, it is not photo-sensitising.
Used together with other more drastic chemical peels, it offers the advantage of reducing skin repair times, boosting the depigmenting power of other peels and accelerating action time (with the risk of slight rashes).
